Ann Miller
Ann Miller is passionate about helping investors reach their goals, to maximize their portfolios to plan life, to understand choices that affect retirement. She formed Affinity Capital in 1995 after working for several major wire houses and as a Vice-President of Investments at RBC Dain Rauscher. Her clients have included high net worth individuals and families and corporate retirement and profit-sharing plans and. She was appointed to her previous firms’ President’s Club and was a founding board member of the Women’s Council. She has been published and featured in national publications.
Ann is an appointed arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulation Authority (FINRA). The firm does pro bono work for several nonprofit and charitable organizations. Ann is a former president and chairman of the National Association of Active Investment Managers (NAAIM), an industry group consisting of over 200 managers managing assets of over $15 billion dollars.
She is on the Advisory Board of the Leadership Houston Endowment and on the Board of The Houston Museum of Health and Medical Science, and serves on the Executive and Finance Committees. She is on the Board of Children at Risk. She formerly served on the Board of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and on the Board of Playworks.
Ann is a certified volunteer Ombudsman with the Office of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman to help protect the quality of life and quality of care of anybody living in a nursing home or an assisted living facility.
She is the President of her HOA for the past six years.
Ann is a native Houstonian and attended the University of Texas at Austin. She is the proud aunt to ten nieces and nephews and actively involved in each of their lives.
Richard A. Miller
Richard has extensive experience serving individuals, families and business owners with their retirement and portfolio management needs. He has a deep knowledge of financial and estate planning processes as well as life insurance and annuity evaluation. He was previously an Advisor with RBC Dain Rauscher and Morgan Stanley. While at Morgan Stanley he earned the designations of Estate Planning Consultant and Retirement Planning Specialist. He previously served ten years as an Arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
Richard served 14 years as President of The 100 Club of San Antonio, a 501(c)3 organization which serves the children and families of fallen law-enforcement and firefighters in San Antonio and Bexar County. He is a board member of the San Antonio Fire Museum and the FBI San Antonio Citizens Academy Alumni. He serves on the Foundation Board, Scholarship Committee and Safety Committee of Alamo Heights Methodist Church and is active in their Youth Program. He is a frequent public speaker.
He is a graduate of the U.S. Marshal’s Citizens Academy, the FBI Citizens Academy San Antonio, DEA Citizens Academy, Bexar County Sheriff’s Citizens Academy, and the San Antonio Police Citizens Academy. In 2018 he was awarded the FBI Directors Community Leadership Award and has been honored by the Texas Legislature for service to his community.
He is a former board member of the Alamo Area D.A.R.E. program which educates children, teachers and parents regarding drug abuse awareness and alternatives to violence. He had served over 12 years as a leader for the Alamo Area Boy Scouts. He is passionately involved in his community.
Richard is a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is married to Heather with five children – all boys!
Ashley Cowan
Ashley handles all aspects of client relations and communication. She has been serving clients at Affinity Capital for over 15 years. Ashley has a Master of Music degree from Boston University and is a classical violinist. She is very active in her church, playing at all Sunday services! Ashley is married to James and has two children, Elise and Jacob.
